Blake Street, that intersects with the 16th Street Mall, has a row of great restaurants. Take the free shuttle bus or walk down to the Blake Street stop and explore the following restaurants (you may want reservations for some).

Savory Spice Shop

I have been going here to get my spices since before they became nationally famous (they have their own food show now!) and this place is awesome. You can find any spice you want and wonderful custom blends. Need cinnamon? They have about 5 kinds! Sold in special plastic bags or spice bottles (for easy packing). Take the free 16th Street Shuttle bus to the end past Market Street, and walk to Platte. Close to REI and the Colt & Gray restaurant.

Freshii is a good lunch option near the conference hotel (open till early dinner time) that makes tasty wraps and bowls and has more interesting flavors (and more reasonable prices) than most chains.

To get to Republic Plaza food court, you access the food court from the 16th Street Mall by walking down a set of stairs to access it (it is near a Starbucks – though that doesn’t tell you much, since there are about 15 Starbucks downtown!).

THE SPA AT THE BROWN PALACE
The spa at the Brown Palace is located in Denver’s oldest and most elegant hotel. This spa opened in 2006 in a space off the atrium lobby which once housed Turkish baths back in 1892. The spa’s special soaks draw natural spring water from the artesian well which has always provided water for this historic hotel. Waterfalls also form part of the spa’s decor.

The Peaks Lounge (great views!)

The Peaks Lounge is at the top of the Denver Hyatt Regency (the conference hotel) has a view not to be missed. The view is recommended by locals and visitors alike is one-of-a-kind.

The views from this perch are stunning and include the Mile High City and the surrounding Rocky Mountains from atop Hyatt Regency Denver at Peaks Lounge.

The lounge offers cocktails, light appetizers and desserts as well large wine and beer selections.

Denver now has a Pinkberry – the trendy yogurt place with exotic and interesting flavors. It is very close to the conference hotel, so check it out when you need a little break or “fun food”.

The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory ( http://rmcf.com) has high quality chocolates that you can buy by the pound so you can buy just one for your chocolate craving, or a bunch to take back home. (My weakness is their peanut butter chocolate sticks!)

Sanfe Fe Cookie Co (aka “The Cookie Lady)
She is open from 10am to 3pm and has been called the “best secret cookie place in Denver.” Check out http://www.denverpost.com/ci_12497797 for more info and to see a photo.

The deal is, 3 great cookies for $1 on the honor system: just stick a buck in the bucket (or change on the counter). My friends say it’s “YUM!” and that the cookies go fast!

Euclid Hall is in an historic building not far from the conference hotel and a favorite of Denver locals . You can walk to Larimer Square where it is located, or take the free 16th Street shuttle and then walk.

This restaurant, Colt & Gray, comes highly recommended by Denver locals. You can take the free 16th Shuttle to the end, walk to Platte, and then walk over to 15th (short walk). This is also by REI which is also worth checking out (see related post here).
